Composed of flaky puff pastry layers of butter and sugar, these three-ingredient cookies are so simple to make, and even easier to devour at any holiday party. While we love these classic cookies for their adorable shape and basic flavors, they're also the perfect base to experiment with different toppings and additions.
Ingredients
All-purpose flour, for surface
1 (14-oz.) box puff pastry, thawed
1/4 c. demerara sugar
Direction
Preheat oven to 400°. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper and flour a clean work surface. Lay puff pastry out on surface with the longer sides on the left and right and shorter sides at the top and bottom. Smooth any seams as needed.
Sprinkle with most of the sugar in an even layer. Fold the left side in towards the middle, then fold the right side in so that they meet perfectly in the middle. Sprinkle with remaining sugar, then fold the right side over the left as if you are closing a book. Cut into ¾” thick pieces and place on prepared cookie sheet cut side down. If dough gets too warm or sticky to work with, place back in refrigerator for 30 minutes to chill.
